Avinu Malkeinu CD: High Holy Day Prayers from Jerusalem

“Avinu Malkeinu” is available now for a KBY contribution of $36 or more to any progressive congregation in Israel. Make a donation to the right and select this CD.

This project is a joint effort by KBY and Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Jerusalem Campus. The selections for the CD are music sung during Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur services at HUC-JIR in Jerusalem. The innovative use of the High Holiday Choir, as a collection of soloists backing-up both the Cantor and each other, gave us the original inspiration. The feelings, at High Holiday services and when listening to this CD, are of engaged personal prayer that reaches upward and connects.

Cantorial Program Director Cantor Eliyahu Schleifer, Choir Director Jay Shir and the voices from the HUC-JIR High Holiday Choir made this CD spiritual, up-lifting and simply beautiful. We extend our thanks to Anastasia Sobolev, who accompanied the singers, and to Cantor Evan Cohen who produced the project.

We wanted to share a part of the progressive Jewish experience in Jerusalem with people who care about Israel and support our congregations.
